At Para la Naturaleza, a non profit environmental organization based in Puerto Rico, we are committed to inspiring people to connect with and protect Puerto Rico’s natural and cultural heritage. We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Environmental Interpreter to join our team and deliver engaging educational and interpretive experiences in Palo Colorado Station - El Yunque National Forest (Río Grande, PR). The Environmental Interpreter facilitates tours, educational activities, and visitor experiences designed to promote environmental awareness, appreciation of natural resources, and conservation action. This position serves as an ambassador for Para la Naturaleza by providing exceptional visitor experiences while ensuring the safety and engagement of participants. This position requires willingness to travel, work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Candidates must be available to drive organizational vehicles. It is a full-time regular job opportunity. General Requirements * Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in History, Natural Sciences, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Agronomy, Forestry, Environmental Education, Tourism, or related fields. * Minimum of one (1) year of experience conducting guided tours, environmental interpretation, educational programs, visitor services, outdoor recreation, or related work. * Experience managing groups of visitors, volunteers, students, or participants in educational and outdoor settings. * Experience in customer service, public presentations, field work, and educational activities. * Fully bilingual with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish. * Ability to communicate scientific, historical, and environmental information effectively to diverse audiences. * Preferably, knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and map interpretation. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and Windows and Mac operating systems. * Availability to work Wednesday through Sunday, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and outdoors on a daily basis. * Ability to work in diverse field conditions, including forests, rivers, trails, mountainous terrain, and other natural environments. * Valid Puerto Rico Driver’s License (Category #4) with the ability to operate buses, trolleys, and other organizational vehicles. * Certifications such as Certified Interpretive Guide (National Association for Interpretation), CPR, and First Aid are highly desirable. Preferred Competencies * Passion for environmental conservation and education. * Excellent communication and public speaking skills. * Strong customer service orientation. * Ability to engage and inspire visitors of different ages, backgrounds, and interests. * Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. * Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic outdoor environments.
