The post holder will play a key role in supporting the Interventional Radiology departmental team in providing high quality care within the department, taking responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care during interventional radiology therapeutic theatre procedures.
The post holder will be a clinically credible practitioner who can provide effective patient care within a specialist radiological area, having regard for relevant policies and evidence base nursing within a small multidisciplinary team working cross site to support our Interventional Radiology service at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
Interventional radiology procedures cover a wide range of patients and conditions all requiring differing skills, knowledge & complexity.
Patient care from pre-admission, during and post procedure onto the discharge process, liaising closely with ward teams, patients and relatives.
Assist with Interventional radiology theatre procedures with making up sterile trolleys, scrubbing in to assist with procedures ensuring economical use of stock, ensuring stock availability, rotation and ordering.
Providing nursing support & knowledge for the main radiology department.
Working within a small dedicated multidisciplinary team Monday to Friday. The Interventional Radiology department is currently undergoing significant upgrades to the service which will bring a greater variety and complexity of cases. There are specialist IR nurse training opportunities run in conjunction with GSTT and Kings College hospital.

JOB SUMMARY:
Accountable to Advanced Nurse Specialist and Head of Radiology
The post holder will play a key role in supporting the nurse managers in providing high quality care. He / she will be prepared to work within the divisions as a Named Nurse, within a Team taking responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care.
The post holder will be a clinically credible practitioner who can provide effective patient care in a range of clinical settings, having regard for relevant policies and the evidence base nursing.
The post holder will provide support and mentorship for students and junior nurses.
