JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

As an IR Tech at Summit Medical Center, you perform and assist with specialized imaging procedures, including complex vascular and nonvascular interventions, ensuring patient safety and compliance with regulatory standards. You prepare and position patients, administer contrast media and medications within scope, and monitor patients throughout procedures. Your role includes reviewing exam requests, maintaining high imaging quality, following radiation safety protocols, and supporting diagnostic accuracy. You also contribute to protocol improvements, assist in staff training, and ensure all activities align with safety and compliance guidelines.

What You Will Do in This Role

  • Review radiology exam requests and patient identification for safety, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
  • Prepare and position patients, selecting appropriate anatomical and technical parameters
  • Perform and assist with specialized imaging procedures, including angiography and complex vascular/nonvascular interventions
  • Administer contrast media and medications within scope and regulatory guidelines
  • Monitor patients during procedures and report any abnormal activity
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Maintain high-quality imaging and timely exam completion
  • Recommend protocol updates and improvements as needed
  • Assist in training and orienting new staff
  • Support a safe and organized work environment, performing additional duties as assigned

What Qualifications You Will Need

Candidates must have one of the following:

  • Current license or registry certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or the ability to obtain this certification prior to hire.
  • OR Current license or registry from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)].

Additional requirements:

  • BLS certification required.
  • Completion of ACLS training within six months of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients, guests, physicians, and other employees.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a Cath Lab, EP Lab, or IR preferred.
  • New graduates of RCIS programs will also be considered.
