Description The Product Assembly & Inventory Control Technician is a critical cross-functional role that supports the assembly, inventory management, and material flow of electrical components used in power transformer systems. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control, material traceability, and work order execution while supporting hands-on component assembly operations. The role integrates inventory administration, barcoding and traceability, shipping coordination, and work-order management to support the efficient assembly of components such as load tap changer (LTC) parts, mechanical drive mechanisms, and related electrical assemblies. The position plays a key role in enabling on-time delivery, cost control, quality compliance, and production visibility. Requirements Inventory Control & Material Management Maintain accurate inventory records for electrical and mechanical components using the ERP system (SYSPRO preferred). Support and enforce barcode-based inventory control, including: Item identification and labeling, Lot/serial tracking where required Material movement and consumption tracking. Perform regular cycle counts and support annual physical inventory audits. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies related to receiving, assembly, consumption, shipping, or returns. Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment to align with: Assembly schedules, Sales forecasts, Project and customer delivery requirements Develop and maintain inventory control procedures specific to component assembly and kitting operations. Assembly & Work Order Support Support component assembly operations for electrical and mechanical products, including: Load tap changer components, Mechanical drive assemblies, and associated electrical and mechanical subassemblies Create, release, manage, and close work orders in the ERP system. Ensure work orders are properly structured with correct: Bills of material (BOMs), routing steps, labor and material allocations, issue, kit, and stage materials to assembly based on work-order requirements. Track material usage and labor reporting to support accurate job costing. Shipping, Receiving & Logistics Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments for components, subassemblies, and finished goods. Verify received materials against purchase orders and packing lists; resolve discrepancies. Prepare and process shipments, including documentation, labeling, and system transactions. Support return material authorizations (RMAs) and warranty-related component movements. Ensure shipping and handling practices comply with company quality and safety requirements. Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Generate inventory, work-order, and material usage reports for management. Identify trends related to shortages, excess inventory, obsolescence, or process gaps. Collaborate with engineering, quality, purchasing, and assembly teams to improve: Material flow Inventory accuracy Assembly efficiency Support continuous improvement initiatives related to: Barcode usage ERP data accuracy Assembly readiness and kitting processes Safety, Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with company policies for handling electrical components and mechanical assemblies. Maintain accurate documentation required for quality, traceability, and audit readiness. Support adherence to safety standards within inventory, shipping, and assembly areas. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment. Required Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required Associate’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a technical discipline preferred Experience 2–4 years of experience in inventory control, production support, or manufacturing operations Experience supporting assembly, kitting, or work-order-driven production environments Exposure to electrical components, industrial equipment, or electro-mechanical products strongly preferred Skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency with ERP systems (SYSPRO preferred) and Microsoft Excel Working knowledge of inventory control methods, including cycle counting and barcoding Ability to interpret BOMs, work orders, and basic technical documentation Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills
