Responsibilities:

  • Assist with performing daily and scheduled cycle counts and document inventory discrepancies.
  • Execute inventory transactions in SAP, including goods receipts, transfers, and adjustments under the direction of the Inventory Specialist.
  • Support the staging, labeling, and physical organization of parts in the warehouse.
  • Participate in full physical inventory events, including data collection, reconciliation, and cleanup activities.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe inventory storage environment.
  • Collaborate with Receiving, Production, and Shipping to ensure accurate material movement.
  • Assist with root cause investigations for inventory variances and help implement corrective actions.
  • Support the Inventory Specialist in generating reports and maintaining accurate records in SAP and Excel.
  • Help prepare parts for scrap, surplus, or rework as needed.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and support their continuous improvement.
  • Participate in training and development programs to build foundational supply chain and inventory knowledge.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–3 years of experience in inventory, warehouse, or materials handling, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP software such as JDE, Oracle or SAP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; ability to learn reporting and inventory tools.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and follow standard processes.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one is advantageous.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to safety.

Core Competencies:

  • Inventory Accuracy & Material Handling – Able to perform cycle counts, help track materials, and support production by keeping parts available. Familiar with ERP systems (such as SAP) for basic transactions like receipts, transfers, and inventory updates.
  • Process Awareness & Improvement – Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) and willing to assist in finding and fixing issues that affect inventory accuracy.
  • Organization & Efficiency – Keeps inventory areas clean, safe, and well-organized. Helps with labeling, staging, and preparing materials for production, scrap, surplus, or rework.
  • Teamwork & Growth – Works well with receiving, production, and shipping teams. Shows a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and interest in developing a career in supply chain or materials management.

Preferences:

  • Associate degree an/or coursework in Supply Chain, Business, or related field is a plus.
  • SAP experience in MM, IM, or WM modules is a plus.

Travel and Work Arrangements

  • Position is fully onsite in Alsip, IL
  • Anticipated travel is less than 5%
