PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• General
• Coordinates inventory requirements with clinical leaders in a variety of primary and secondary locations.
• Collaborates with clinical and operational leadership to establish appropriate stocking levels.
• Completes required requisition forms to maintain established stocking levels.
• Works with clinical leadership and hospital staff to provide/obtain information and resolve problems to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Recommends potential improvement opportunities to leadership team; leads improvement efforts, including communication and education regarding any approved changes.
• Conducts periodic cycle count of supplies.
• Conducts daily audit of inventory.
• Identifies slow moving inventory and alerts leadership.
• Works with internal departments (Central Supply, Sterile Processing) to ensure inventory levels from them are maintained at established levels.
• Provides routine performance updates (Excel and/or PowerPoint) up to the Director level.
• Provides detailed supply expense data to manager as requested.
• Performs special projects as assigned by the Manager.
• Surgical Services
• Coordinates the replenishment of OR supplies provided by Sterile Processing, including peel packed instruments.
• Collaborates with clinical staff to establish appropriate supply lists and quantities to maintain in ORs or on supply carts.
• Orders tissue products according to guidelines provided by clinical leadership; Coordinates all tissue acquisitions with the Transfusion Service (Tissue/Blood Bank) and consults regarding storage of tissue.
• Tissue Bank
• Responsible for training employees and updating training documents.
• Presents Tissue Bank related information to the Surgical Services employees that handle tissues.
• Identifies expiring inventory and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Collaborates with clinical staff to ensure tissues are available.
• Documents and monitors movement of tissues.
• Provides additional updates to the Director level including monthly updates with statistics of tissue inventory, usage, and waste.
• Ensures items approved by PVAC (Product Value Added Committee) are entered into tracking system.
• Collaborates with Materials Management to ensure accurate shipment receipt and acceptable shipping conditions.
• Collaborates with Surgical Systems Team and Surgical Services to verify items are documented as implanted or explanted in EHR and resolves discrepancies.
• Works with regulatory manager to ensure annual tissue registration is accurate.
• Participates in the recall or adverse event investigation.
