This position assumes a working leadership role in the Shipping and Receiving Department and is generally responsible to assist fellow team members across departments. This position is responsible for the control and accuracy of all inventory as it relates to all system transactions. The goal is to make sure that our customers are pleased, and inventory is accurate. This individual is a key player in maintaining and increasing the value of production. Will average 40 + hours per week, M – F. Ideally the candidate should be flexible and be able to come in as needed for evening /weekend projects. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities: • Reviews production schedules and other online data sources and dashboards relating to manufacturing production. • Analyzes which products are due for shipment, viewing ahead on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. • Schedules truckers for efficient pickup of product throughout the day. • Operates forklift truck and other hand transport pieces of equipment. • Maintains stock records and schedules. • Performs daily cycle counts. • Helps reconciles discrepancies and determines the root causes. • Plays a major role in assisting the facilitation of all physical inventories. • Records and tracks inventory accuracy for weekly KPI reporting • Assists in the training of new Material Handlers on shipping and receiving procedures as they relate to inventory transactions. • Reports any safety problems or unsafe practices to the Department Manager or Shift Supervisor. • Reports any employee accidents, injuries, illnesses and near misses to Shift Supervisor, in a timely manner. Participates in Safety investigation process, as needed. • Participates in Pre-Shift and other departmental meetings. • Performs various other duties as requested by the plant leadership. • Satisfactorily completes training courses as determined by management. • Works overtime as required. • Responsible for following all work rules, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Hourly Handbook and North Vernon Supplemental Handbook. • Responsible for following all plant and corporate safety rules. • Performs work in accordance with standard work instructions (see standard work document). • Meet progression levels in accordance with training standards • Train the Trainer certified forklift trainer • Assist in filling in for Production Planning Manager during absences. • Daily communication with NV Recycle plant. • Track inventory and place carton orders to maintain a sufficient supply of corrugated boxes while keeping within budget restrictions. • Serve as the sole back-up for the Shipping Lead and assist with the Scheduling Assistant position.
