Inventory & Logistics Intern Department: Procurement Employment Type: Internship Location: Hawthorne, California Compensation: $30.00 / hour Description Venturi Astrolab, Inc. (Astrolab) is pioneering new ways to explore and operate on distant planetary bodies. We are singularly focused on designing, building, and operating a fleet of multi-purpose commercial planetary rovers to extend and enhance humanity’s presence in the solar system. We are seeking motivated, creative, and exceptional people to join our world-class team. As an Inventory & Logistics Intern at Astrolab, you will be responsible for creating, improving, and managing the inventory and production materials processes including, but not limited to: kanban, consumables, inventory storage, receiving, kitting, packing, and shipping direct and indirect materials needed to support our engineering and operations teams. This role is crucial in maintaining the supply chain for our lunar rovers, balancing cost, quality, and delivery timelines to meet our project needs. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, procurement, and production to ensure that Astrolab’s inventory control and logistics processes are efficient and strategic. What you'll do: Production Lineside Kanban: Daily counts of materials in Lineside locations, updating the kanban indicator, and replenishing from storage. Inventory Counting Project: Identify and create the necessary physical and system processes to execute a fast, smooth, and accurate Year-End Inventory Count. Included in this would be any necessary pre-counts, cycle counts, re-organizations, and system or process updates. Production Kitting: Assist with the Kitting process, identifying and executing against any opportunities for improvement in picking, labeling, storing, or delivering to the production floor Inventory Control: Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to ensure optimal stock levels and avoid disruptions in production Shipping and Logistics: Physically package and electronically arrange shipping out of components to suppliers and customers Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and finance teams to align inventory control activities with project timelines and budgetary constraints What you'll bring: Education: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Logistics) Experience: At least 3 months of applied warehouse and inventory control in a related industry Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Visio, and Powerpoint Familiarity with procurement in manufacturing, technology, or aerospace industries is a huge plus Benefits and Perks Work with a team of best-in-class engineers building the foundation of planetary surface exploration On-site snacks, beverages, and 2x weekly lunches Competitive internship salary
