Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Century-Tech is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inventory & Materials Management Specialist to own and optimize all inventory tracking and material handling processes across the organization. This individual will be responsible for receiving parts, cataloguing them in our MRP system, implementing a robust barcode-based inventory tracking system, and managing the flow of materials from receiving to assembly across multiple production stages. This role is critical to ensuring inventory accuracy, traceability, and on-time availability of components for new machine builds and spare parts fulfillment. This is not a procurement role—you will work closely with the Vendor Manager who is responsible for sourcing and ordering materials.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory Management

  • Receive incoming parts and materials, verify shipments against packing slips, and record receipts in the MRP system (Fishbowl).
  • Catalogue all parts with appropriate metadata (part number, description, supplier, storage location, etc.) and ensure correct classification in the system.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient barcoding system for inventory tracking from receiving through production stages.
  • Track and monitor inventory at all stages: raw materials, WIP (work-in-progress), finished components, and spare parts.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventory reconciliations; resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Flag excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory and collaborate on plans for clearance or repurposing.
  • Monitor reorder points and inventory levels, and coordinate with the Vendor Manager to initiate reorders when necessary.

Materials Staging & Assembly Support

  • Pull parts based on Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new machine builds.
  • Organize and stage parts across the assembly floor, ensuring production teams have the right components at the right time.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and traceability for all staged materials, including lot tracking where necessary.
  • Work closely with engineering, service, and production teams to ensure material readiness aligns with build schedules and deadlines.

System Integration & Process Improvement

  • Improve material handling workflows using MRP tools (Fishbowl) and ensure alignment with QuickBooks Online for inventory valuation.
  • Develop and implement SOPs for inventory intake, labeling, storage, movement, and usage logging.
  • Ensure all parts data is correctly tied to machine models, BOMs, and assemblies within the system.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to streamline communication and improve inventory transparency across departments.
