Our Procurement team is currently undertaking an exciting transformation as we seek to be First Class in all that we do. As part of this journey, we are currently looking for a bright and energetic Inventory Planner to join us at our amazing site in Kempston. You will have a keen eye for detail and always be looking for new innovative ways to plan and add insight while also be comfortable communicating requirements to both internal teams and Suppliers around the world. Reporting to the Inventory Planning & Control Manager, you will have some stock planning (demand and supply interpretation) experience and be responsible for the end to end Inventory Planning Lifecycle alongside ensuring the item creation process including all master data is up to date and correct. With a curious mind, you will also bring thoughts on process improvements that leads to more commercially-focused decision making.

SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:

  • A demonstrable understanding of stock management theory, including the natural linkage of demand, supply, lead times, stock-holding and MOQs.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyse systems and data to help drive insightful decisions.
  • Attention to detail to ensure product / system house-keeping is maintained in a timely fashion.
  • Process-oriented mindset, with the ability to understand the dependencies and sources of information in the Item Creation Process.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and different departments, and also external suppliers.

Responsibilities
  • To use and interact with our stock forecasting software to maintain stock levels to optimise availability alongside cash / space management.
  • Liaise with key supplier network to obtain best-in-class pricing for portfolio of stock products for identified order quantities.
  • Placing orders and work with suppliers to ensure lead times for products are maintained or exceeded and ensuring the Category Management team is made aware of any supplier timing and / or quality issues to provide support.
  • Communicating any risks of stock-outs along with mitigating action plans, with a focus on ensuring first-class customer service.
  • Liaising with Sales team to gain valuable insights into customer demand profiles, including an appreciation of seasonality and likely future forecasts.
  • Ensuring that Impaired stock risks are kept to a minimum, and owning the process to ensure that identified Impaired Stock is brought to a resolution
  • Following confirmation an item code is required, ensure these are created and all relevant data is uploaded to the Product Record
  • Ensure all Master & Specification data points are completed for Procured items
  • Have responsibility for using reporting to identify missing Master & Specification data to then secure the information to complete item records
  • Feed back to the Head of Procurement on opportunities to improve the item creation process
