Position Summary The Inventory Specialist is a hands-on, warehouse-based role responsible for the physical control, accuracy, and movement of inventory supporting two manufacturing facilities. This position works primarily in the inventory warehouse, receiving, staging, issuing, and tracking raw materials, components, and finished goods to ensure timely support of production. The Inventory Specialist performs daily cycle counts, investigates inventory variances, maintains accurate system transactions, and coordinates material flow between the warehouse and both factories. This role plays a critical part in preventing material shortages, minimizing excess inventory, and maintaining an organized, efficient warehouse environment. Essential Functions Inventory Management: Perform regular stock counts (cycle counts, physical inventories), monitor stock levels, and reconcile discrepancies. Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate digital records, update inventory systems, and generate reports on stock status, usage, and issues. Receiving & Dispatch: Oversee incoming shipments, inspect goods, and track outgoing orders for accuracy. Organization: Keep stockrooms, shelves, and counters clean, organized, and well-merchandised. Process Improvement: Help develop protocols for loss mitigation, improve efficiency, and train staff on procedures. Coordination: Liaise with other departments (purchasing, sales) to optimize stock and resolve issues. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in supply chain, logistics, or a related field preferred 2+ years of hands-on inventory control experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of inventory transactions, material flow, and cycle counting Experience supporting manufacturing operations and production schedules Proficiency using inventory management systems / ERP (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Epicor, or similar) Comfortable performing physical inventory tasks, including lifting, staging, and moving materials Experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or RF scanners (certification preferred or willingness to obtain) Strong attention to detail and ability to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while coordinating with multiple departments Willingness to support two manufacturing facilities and adjust priorities as needed Nice to Have (Optional) Lean manufacturing, Kanban, or JIT inventory experience Experience with cycle count programs and inventory accuracy metrics Familiarity with shipping/receiving and material traceability Physical Requirement: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials weighing up to 50 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation) Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to handle inventory at various heights Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks Repetitive use of hands and arms for scanning, counting, labeling, and data entry Ability to climb stairs or ladders to access racking and storage locations Visual acuity required to read labels, part numbers, and computer screens Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an industrial warehouse environment that is not climate controlled and may be subject to hot or cold temperatures depending on seasons Regular exposures to loud noises from manufacturing operations, including welding, metal saws, and material handling equipment. Frequent presence around moving industrial forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered equipment. Exposure to dust, fumes, spark, and odors associated with welding, cutting, and metal fabrication processes. Requires consistent awareness of surroundings and strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements. Work environment may involve simultaneous warehouse and manufacturing activities, requiring the ability to safety multitask and communicate effectively
