Description

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for the efficient oversight, control, and reporting of inventory and equipment within the MOW Department. Managing high inventory value, this role plays a critical function in ensuring that all materials, tools, and equipment are accurately tracked, appropriately stored, and readily available to support operational and project needs. This includes end to end responsibility for purchasing, receiving, work order allocation, and cycle counting.

A strong emphasis is placed on process improvement and system development. The successful candidate will bring a continuous improvement mindset to streamline and standardize inventory workflows, enhance visibility and control, and implement scalable inventory systems and tools.

  • Inventory Management & Control
  • Maintain accurate records of all inventory transactions, locations, and movements
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies
  • Ensure proper issuance of materials to work orders in alignment with project schedules and const controlsTrack high value equipment as part of asset inventory

    • Purchasing & Receiving
  • Execute purchase orders for inventory stock and ad-hoc maintenance needs
  • Work closely with vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality complianceOversee and verify receiving procedures for accuracy and completeness


    • Process Improvement & System Development

    • Evaluate and improve current inventory practices, documentation, and physical storageDesign and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to inventory control and purchasing workflows


      • Cost Management

      • Monitor inventory value, usage trends, and turnover to reduce carrying costs and to minimize waste
      • Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting of inventory needs
      • Prepare regular reports on inventory status, consumption, cycle count accuracy, and variance analysis for leadership.
      • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, logistics or other relevant field preferred
      • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of inventory management experience, ideally in a heavy industrial, rail, or infrastructure maintenance environment
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
      • Demonstrated ability to implement and sustain process improvements
      • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
      • Excellent communication and vendor relationship management skills
      • Ability to travel to the United States is required.
