Description

The Inventory Specialist position is responsible for managing inventory stock levels by overseeing the ordering, receiving, storing, and distributing of products and supplies, as well as ensuring accurate tracking and analysis of inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent shortages while minimizing losses. This position plays a pivotal role in material flow when it comes to getting the right parts at the right place at the right time. The Inventory Specialist reports directly to the General Manager in our Sterling Heights, Michigan office while working closely with other procurement and production personnel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Associate’s degree in supply chain, logistics or a related field preferred, OR a minimum of two (2) years of experience in inventory control or a comparable role
  • Prior experience with inventory control in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred
  • Attention to detail: ability to accurately count and record inventory data
  • Computer proficiency:
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and data analysis tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Organizational skills: efficiently managing stock levels and warehouse space
  • Communication skills: collaborating with purchasing teams, warehouse staff, and customer service to manage inventory flow
  • The ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced environment, meeting quick turnaround deadlines
  • Self-Starter and strong team collaboration abilities
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Inventory tracking: Regular monitoring of stock levels, performing cycle counts, tracking material within warehouse/shop floor, and updating inventory management systems to maintain accurate data on product availability
  • Receiving and inspection: Verify incoming transactions daily against purchase orders and routing information to track inventory movements within inventory management system
  • Storage and organization: Properly storing inventory in designated areas, utilizing warehouse space efficiently, and updating changes within inventory management systems
  • Picking/Storing and Shipping: Prepare orders and pack for shipping while verifying accuracy of picking lists against orders; determine best shipment methods and carrier for shipments; and update inventory management systems to maintain accurate data on product availability
  • Loss prevention: Identifying root cause analysis for inventory adjustments, reviewing with Management to strategize procedural implementation to minimize inventory losses through proper handling, security measures, and regular audits
  • Data management: Maintaining accurate inventory records, generating reports, and analyzing data to identify areas for improvement
