INVESTIGATIVE PARALEGAL II/III HEALTH CARE & FAIR COMPETITION BUREAU NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS/PUBLIC CHARITIES DIVISION (Boston Office or Regional Office) Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Office of the Attorney General’s Non-Profit Organizations/Public Charities Division as an Investigative Paralegal. The Division is responsible for protecting and promoting the public’s interest in the Commonwealth’s public charities that range in size and complexity, from our largest universities and health care systems, to small, local human service organizations. Primary Duties: · Conduct complex investigations and support enforcement actions across a diverse range of industries. · Review and triage incoming complaints. · Analyze financial and other data records, including tax filings. · Locate and interview complainants, witnesses, and subjects of investigations. · Obtain, review, organize, and evaluate documentary evidence from individuals, corporations, federal, state, county, and municipal agencies. · Prepare detailed interview and investigative reports and memoranda. · Support the corporate dissolution workstream of the Division. · Collaborate closely with Assistant Attorneys General and Charities Compliance Specialists. · Perform other duties as assigned. Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. Salary: Investigative Paralegal II $60,913; Investigative Paralegal III $67,004. Inquiries regarding position & status may be made to: Amy Bryson, Charities Compliance Manager Non-Profit Organizations/Public Charities Division 617-963-2113 Position Requirements: Paralegal II: Requires demonstrated experience supporting legal and investigative work, with the ability to manage routine to moderately complex matters with limited guidance. · Bachelor's degree in a related field. · A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in investigations, legal support, compliance, or regulatory enforcement. · Prior civil litigation experience, preferred. Experience mining online databases and social media sites/applications, preferred. · Demonstrated commitment to working in the public interest. · Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills with attention to detail. · Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and maintain confidentiality on all matters handled in the Division. · Effective written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software applications. Paralegal III: Meets all requirements of Paralegal II and requires advanced experience supporting legal and investigative work, with the ability to independently manage complex matters. · Demonstrated experience mining online databases and social media sites/applications. · Demonstrated experience conducting investigative interviews. · Familiarity with federal tax filings and/or experience working with financial data. · Familiarity with reviewing independent financial audits. · Familiarity with drafting and revising civil administrative or court filings. · Demonstrated ability to manage complex assignments with sound judgement and limited supervision.
