Overview:
POSITION TITLE: Investigative Researcher
REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Center on Extremism
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
LOCATION: Anywhere ADL has an office on the West Coast (Los Angeles preferred)
Grade/Class: Grade F, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

SKILLS:

  • Excellent analytical and research skills; strong familiarity with open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and act flexibly in response to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative settings and with all levels of staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment under pressure.
  • Familiarity with a range of data and technological tools.
  • Expertise and interest in specific extremist-related subject area of concern to ADL.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • The ideal candidate has several years’ investigative experience in journalism, law enforcement, academic research, or similar areas with a proven track record in deep research and analysis.

Education:

  • B.A. degree in Journalism, Political Science, History, Criminal Justice, related field or equivalent work experience required (Graduate degree preferred).

COMPENSATION:

  • This position has a salary range of $60,000 to $70,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Los Angeles, CA. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
