The Group Investigations team purpose is to investigate internal fraud, serious misconduct and insider threat-based misconduct involving employees, contractors and suppliers. Working closely with your Manager to conduct investigations in a fair and effective manner to enable the Group to investigate:

  • Insider threat misconduct, including however not limited to;
  • Unauthorised disclosure of sensitive information,
  • Conflict of interests,
  • Electronic and/or IT sabotage,
  • Facilitation of third party access to the Group’s assets, and
  • Physical sabotage.
  • Theft
  • Asset misappropriation
  • Bribery & Corruption (e.g. serious conflicts of interest, kickbacks, commissions or other unlawful financial advantage)
  • Submission of false/misleading credit applications, documents or claims involving employees.
  • Serious integrity-based issues (e.g. serious conflicts of interest, inappropriate dealings with third parties)
  • Criminal or unlawful activities involving employees referred from a regulator or law enforcement agency (e.g. external fraud, scams, collusion, insider trading)

You will conduct investigations in a fair, effective, and insightful manner in order to enable the Group to:

  • Identify and address fraudulent or integrity-based misconduct
  • Decrease legal, financial, regulatory and reputational risk within the Group
  • Identify and remediate any negative customer impact

To conduct investigations, you will need to understand and apply relevant criminal laws, financial services regulation and privacy requirements, in addition to internal policies and procedures. You will conduct robust and timely investigations with integrity that will withstand legal and regulatory scrutiny.

This includes:

  • Scoping investigations considering the nature of the potential misconduct, the risk it poses, and the potential evidence available.
  • Gathering and reviewing transactional information, various data systems within the bank, email and public records.
  • Undertaking inquiries and analysing evidence.
  • Conducting fact-finding and admission seeking interviews with staff under investigation, and factual interviews with witnesses.
  • Delivering clear, accurate and insightful investigation reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Conduct proactive reviews on emerging trends and deliver detailed reports on the risks identified to stakeholders within the group.
  • Drafting briefs of evidence for law enforcement, including the preparation of witness statementsGiving evidence in court proceedings, and supporting regulatory engagement, in matters that have been investigated.

  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive culture within Group Investigations.Assist in training and continuous improvement initiatives.
