GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under direct supervision of the Investment Compliance Manager the Investment Compliance and Accounting Analyst is responsible for monitoring and executing material aspects of CTPF’s investment portfolio compliance and accounting operations while working closely with external vendors and Investment Managers.
CTPF’s Investment Compliance and Accounting Analyst will utilize experience in investment accounting, compliance, reporting, and knowledge of individual partnerships and will be highly motivated with outstanding organizational skills and a heavy attention to detail. In collaboration with the Investment Department and external Departments, the Investment Compliance and Accounting Analyst will drive key projects and execute critical processes that benefit CTPF.
The Investment Compliance and Accounting Analyst will gain exposure to various facets of CTPF investment portfolio and expanded knowledge of the investment industry, while demonstrating a substantive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, processes, and procedures. The Investment Compliance and Accounting Analyst will demonstrate important financial, technical, analytical and communication skills that will benefit the entire organization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Monitor and evaluate trade analytics and foreign exchange transactions within the portfolio . In particular monitor the cost dynamics for the transactions to ensure best pricing is achieved.
  • Assess the accuracy of investment manager fees against agreed upon manager contractual agreements. Keep detailed records of all public and private investment management fees paid.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Chief Investment Officer, and Finance Department to provide investment related data for year-end audits and financial statements.
  • Support BNY Mellon reporting (i.e. Cost to Equity method reporting project, BNY Mellon initial reporting set-up and training, and BNY Mellon G/L Interface automation project)
  • Assist the Finance Reporting Team with maintaining records of custodial transactions and preparing entries for the general ledger by Manager and security type.
  • Complete cash forecasting model and fund transfers for monthly benefit payments.
  • Coordinate and track capital calls, distributions, recallable distributions, income activity and categorizations.
  • Support other team members and other departments in diagnosing issues, analyzing, and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Reporting Team with general ledger and journal entries preparation questions and inquiries.
  • Help the Finance Reporting Team with reconciling and correcting security holding discrepancies between investment manager portfolios and master custodian records. Support the Investment Compliance & Accounting Manager with Minority Brokerage reporting.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the CTPF website as it relates to investment reports and reporting. As well as aiding the Investment Compliance & Accounting Manager with FOIA responses.
  • Assist the Investment Compliance & Accounting Manager with special projects as requested by the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Assist the Investment Compliance & Accounting Manager with year-end audit-related data and financial statements.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of investment strategies and accounting principles.
  • Ability to work well in a team and cross-departmental environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required with concentration in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
  • Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related investment experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will likely sit for long periods of time, with some standing and repetitive physical activity.
