POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Investment Consultant to join the Bolton Investment Consulting Group in Towson, MD. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in investment consulting, especially in the public sector and/or Taft-Hartley environment. A minimum of 10+ years of retirement plan experience, and proven investment acumen is required. This position requires the candidate to have their series 65 license or CFA designation and may require up to 35% travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of retirement plan consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated investment acumen, including substantive experience in IPS development, manager evaluation, performance monitoring, and fiduciary guidance.
  • Hands-on experience serving public sector and/or Taft-Hartley clients is highly preferred.
  • Experience with corporate plans is a strong plus.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory, litigation, and fiduciary risk issues in retirement plans.
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills, with ability to translate technical insights into actionable guidance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an entrepreneurial, values-driven environment.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver investment consulting and fiduciary guidance to sponsors of retirement plans (especially within public sector and/or Taft-Hartley (multi-employer union) environments).
  • Oversee plan reviews, perform fee benchmarking, evaluate investment lineups, and execute manager searches.
  • Lead the development and ongoing monitoring of Investment Policy Statements (IPS), focusing on prudent governance and plan objectives.
  • Support performance measurement and monitoring—producing insightful reports comparing funds to benchmarks and peers.
  • Engage in vendor searches and RFP processes for investment managers, platform providers, and fiduciary support services.
  • Provide education and training on fiduciary best practices, governance structures, and litigation risk mitigation.
  • Assist with provider searches, QDIA evaluations, and plan governance.
  • Build and nurture long-term client relationships, representing Bolton’s values of independent thought, integrity, and excellence.
