WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The Investment Funds Advisor, Level 1 is responsible for delivering exceptional investment advice and servicing in the spirit of the Investments team mission to Coach, Educate and Enable Canadians to become better investors. The Investment Funds Advisor, Level 1 will respond to Client inquiries via the inbound phone channel (Investments/Deposit) and E-services when needed. They will report directly to the Manager of Tangerine Investments.

IS THIS ROLE RIGHT FOR YOU? IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Client Engagement Outbound/Inbound
  • Assess Clients’ financial situations and fit for mutual funds using probing questions and exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Simplify and explain investment strategies using language and analogies that make investing concepts easier to understand.
  • Coach Clients to adopt sound investor behaviors and habits that will position them to have long-term success with their investments & deposits
  • Educate Clients on the fundamentals of our products with the intention of raising their overall investor IQ.
  • Enable Clients to take control of their investments by providing them a tailored recommendation suited to their needs.
  • Empower Clients to use online self-serve tools to assist with planning and goal setting
  • Recommend other Tangerine products that are well suited to the Clients identified needs
  • Assist Clients with trade requests and account maintenance needs and execute with high accuracy
  • Meet monthly productivity, sales and quality targets for both phone and E-services channels when needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Deliver appropriate Investment Advice
  • Review Know Your Client details, assess a client’s personal circumstances and make a recommendation based on client needs and objectives
  • Understand products offered by Tangerine Investments, including the structure, features, risks and costs of the investments and the impact of those costs.
  • Create customized action plans for clients to build appropriate Investment Goals.
  • Provide additional research and context on Deposit, Mutual Fund and Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) products; educate and simplify the methodology used for clients.
  • Use superior judgement to develop and recommend Investment Strategies for clients to achieve desired goals such as fee minimization and specific life-based goals.
  • Understand and practice the boundaries and limitations of advice in the context of Tangerine Investment.
  • Risk Management and Compliance
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of client suitability & KYP.
  • Adhere to all aspects of the Know Your Client standards, policies and procedures.
  • Protect the Bank’s assets by adhering to all policies and procedures, legal and ethical requirements and regulations, and established risk guidelines. Ensure all business is in conformity with Bank Policies and other guidelines.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the Tangerine Investment Team
  • Participate in ongoing professional development; keep up-to-date on financial services/market trends and new Bank initiatives in order to effectively perform in the role.
  • Contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of both the Tangerine Investment and your own individual investment team
  • Work toward meeting productivity goals and targets.
  • Identify areas and recommend solutions to the Management team to improve the overall customer service experience.

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS THAT WILL ENABLE YOU TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE? WE’D LOVE TO WORK WITH YOU IF YOU HAVE:

  • Bilingualism in French and English is required
  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience preferably in retail/sales or customer service
  • Successful completion of CSC or IFIC
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent sales and customer service skills
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent written and reading comprehension skills
