JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an Investment Funds Lawyer to join our expanding bench of legal professionals supporting top-tier clients in the financial services sector. This role is ideal for a motivated lawyer with a background in investment funds and a strong understanding of Canadian securities regulation. The successful candidate will have experience advising on the formation, distribution, and ongoing compliance of various fund structures, including public mutual funds, pooled funds, limited partnerships, and exempt market vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and advise on offering documents, fund agreements, and disclosure materials across various fund structures (e.g., mutual funds, pooled funds, limited partnerships).
  • Provide legal support on fund registration, governance, and regulatory filings.
  • Advise on compliance matters affecting fund managers, portfolio managers, and exempt market dealers.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in the Canadian investment funds space and assess their impact on products and operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of experience in investment funds, asset management, or securities law, ideally from an in-house legal team.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian securities regulatory environment and fund-related instruments.
  • Actively licensed and in good standing as a lawyer in a Canadian province.
