INVESTMENT MANAGER – ASSET MANAGEMENT MENA – 0000L3PG

We invest on behalf of retail and private banking clients, financial intermediaries, corporate and institutional investors globally. HSBC Asset Management is building the local Middle East distribution team with the addition of an Investment Manager role to the team. The role holder will be responsible for the investment management and oversight of the UAE feeder funds, timely and efficient portfolio implementation and ensuring adherence to internal portfolio management procedures and all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Be a member of the management committee and as part of the AM MENA team, jointly with other senior managers, to be responsible for the company fulfilling its fiduciary, compliance, and legal obligations, in relation to portfolio management.
  • Lead and direct the effective identification, assessment, management, monitoring, and mitigation of Risk and ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met for HSBC in Asset Management MENA.
  • Share responsibility for the decision-making capability of the company with respect to the strategic direction of its remit.
  • Represent HSBC AM MENA is all Investment governance forums and be responsible for reporting to the HIFL Investment committee.
  • Maintain data including core portfolio positioning spreadsheets, portfolio performance and attribution, risk analysis and portfolio implementation instructions
  • Represent the team at client and marketing events.
  • Support portfolio review and governance processes.
  • Support other team responsibilities such as contributions to regular and ad-hoc investment presentations to clients, provision of portfolio data to support functions, new product development etc
  • Work collaboratively with other senior executives in Asset Management, Global Lines of Businesses, Functions, Geographies and countries.
  • Remain up to date on latest markets and industry developments (e.g. technology, regulatory); enables teams to incorporate improvements to drive towards operational excellence
  • Identify major changes in global / regional / country-specific regulatory / statutory norms and ensure these are implemented
    Requirements

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE, YOU SHOULD MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience within Asset Management is mandatory
  • Possess an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Finance or a related field - CFA is preferable
  • Strong understanding of global investment markets and securities
  • Strong quantitative skills and an ability to source and manage data effectively including spreadsheet construction, data download and manipulation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Incumbent will be expected to interact with all areas of the business, including clients
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators.
  • Proven ability to engage with senior management, clients, regulators, auditors and examiners proactively and constructively
  • Good quantitative knowledge and experience; understanding of operational risks and controls
  • Experience and agility in managing and engaging with the local work environment, culture, and language
  • Graduation degree is a must – to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit
