YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Preference for master’s degree in economics, business administration, finance, or a related field from a top institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in an investment or consulting firm covering the financial sector, or financial/investment experience in the renewable energy or energy efficiency space.
  • Experience with credit analysis of financial institutions, with focus on balance sheet, income statement and governance risks and mitigants.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with culturally diverse teams and partner institutions.
  • Reliable, positive, self-driven team player, with demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills in English and Spanish is necessary. Portuguese would be a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel across the region, sometimes on short notice, for on-site due diligences or origination opportunities.
  • Enthusiasm for impact investments, especially Climate Finance, as well as a nuanced understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in emerging markets.
Responsibilities
  • Build and manage relationships with financial institutions (FIs) across the LAC region, working closely with regional teams (the role requires travel across countries in the LAC region, as well as rA’s HQ in Zurich).
  • Lead the due diligence process from end-to-end, including origination, negotiation, assessment (including on-site due diligence), execution and monitoring of investments in financial institutions across Latin America. This will require managing the coordination across various internal stakeholders.
  • Assess the market potential for renewable energy (RE), energy efficiency (EE) and adaptation lending, including evaluation of commercial & regulatory drivers supporting an FI’s green lending potential.
  • On the basis of this RE/EE assessment, develop a viable green lending strategy that FIs can implement, tailoring it to the FIs’ market positioning and needs, working closely with rA’s in-house Climate Advisory, Technical Assistance, and Carbon Impact teams.
  • Lead the drafting of Investment Proposals (IPs) for the GCPF Investment Committee and Board of Directors that capture the FI’s key strengths and weaknesses from a credit and RE/EE perspective, and place emphasis on the additionality of GCPF’s investment.
  • Liaise with the various internal responsAbility teams collaborating on a GCPF FI transaction, coordinating various needs throughout the investment process from due diligence to disbursement and monitoring.
  • Perform regular financial monitoring of outstanding transactions, investees, and risk-relevant market and sector developments.
