The Investment Specialists are responsible for providing expert advice, support, and guidance on best-in class investment products to clients and internal stakeholders, in particular for fixed income, equities, funds, and alternative investments. In their role as product experts, they generate recommendation lists, market opportunities, switch ideas and cover the after-sales for core holdings. Furthermore, they also drive sales initiatives and promote the respective instruments in the bank. Investment Specialists are front and client facing staff, supporting the delivery of exceptional client experience through product knowledge and expertise. YOUR CHALLENGE GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Investment Specialist - Funds is member of the Funds Specialists team and shall endeavour to fulfil the financial ambitions defined and outlined for the team by Head Funds Specialists Singapore. He/she shall ensure active risk management and meet all regulatory and internal compliance expectations relating to the role. The incumbent shall work closely with the Relationship Managers (RM), Investment Advisors (IA) and provide up-to-date investment advisory. The Funds Specialist aims to enhance returns for clients by providing comprehensive solutions and wide range of product selection from Julius Baer’s investment universe. He/she identifies and generates, together with Research and other Investment Specialists, variety of thematic investment ideas. He/she shall provide regular updates and active lifecycle management on such recommendations. Further, he/she shall support/participate in client outreach events, internal meetings as well as internal sales initiatives. The incumbent shall also build highly effective relationships across the Bank to maintain and improve knowledge of the business and its latest products and services to optimise service to clients. KEY FEATURES OF THE POSITION People Management Contribute to the strengthening of the team spirit and the fostering of a collaborative work environment Motivate and provide guidance/feedback to other team members to improve overall performance Client Management (internal & external) Able to actively promote current conviction fund ideas to the front Understand asset allocation and be able to recommend suitable funds to clients with various risk profiles Provide advice, in a portfolio context, on fund products to RM, IA and clients Create and maintain customized investment proposals for RM, IA and clients Communicate and educate RM, IA in positioning mutual funds, ETFs, alternative investments and other solution-based investments Regularly review the clients’ books and create “holding-based switch” ideas in terms of managed portfolios for RM/IA/clients Publish and distribute written updates on markets and relevant thematic investment ideas/strategies Partner with RM/IA in client calls and meetings, especially providing fund investment advice and updates in a portfolio context including constructing fund portfolio construction, customized proposal, pitchbook and portfolio review material preparation in English and Business Mandarin Arrange and host marketing events e.g. “Lunch & Learn”, client luncheon etc (shared responsibility of team) Actively promote current focus investment funds, lead new fund product launches, and actively engage in various fund sales activities of the team Maintain and update the database of fund material (shared responsibility of team) Provide fund product related sales support to RMs, IA and RM assistants Present to Groups and teams for fund launches or update (in both English and Business Mandarin) Present during regular morning meetings for RM/IA population across HK and Singapore (in English) Business Management Work to fulfil the financial ambitions of the team defined by Head Funds Specialists Singapore Regular review of the function’s practices to ensure efficiency and productivity are kept at optimal levels Compliance & Risk Management Meet all legal, regulatory and compliance standards/requirements Adhere to all relevant Local User Manuals Regular assessment of the function’s practices to mitigate associated risks arising out of and relating to the said function Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations YOUR PROFILE SKILLS REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION Personal and Social Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal with different levels of stakeholders Strong presentation skills Sound analytical skills with good judgment and ability to work under pressure and multi-task Client- and service-oriented Good team player, open and approachable Self-motivated and proactive Able to work independently and in a global team setup to take on initiatives with a positive attitude Fast learner and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines Professional and Technical 2-4 years of experience in the financial industry, ideally in Funds advisory in a Wealth Management entity Strong understanding and broad knowledge of mutual funds, ETFs, alternative investments and the financial markets Experience in Alternative Investments, especially the Private Markets, would be an advantage Good command of financial analytics skills Ability to provide advisory to the business Proficiency in business Mandarin preferred Strong commercial judgement, business acumen and broad understanding of the financial market and products Represent the Bank’s and shareholders’ interests at all times Regulatory MAS licensed representative Familiar with regulatory expectations and requirements Cross border rules and regulations CACS Papers 1 and 2, RES 12B, CM-EIP and CM-SIP, or CM-CMP We are looking forward to receiving your full job application through our online application tool.
