· Attend inspections at ports, warehouses, logistics facilities, consignee premises, and other relevant locations.

· Investigate the circumstances and probable cause of loss or damage and establish the nature, extent, and timing of the reported incident where evidence permits.

· Examine cargo packaging, containers, seals, handling conditions, storage arrangements, and transportation records as relevant to the claim.

· Assess physical damage to cargo, identify affected items, and document the extent of loss through photographs, inspection notes, and supporting evidence.

· Review shipping documents, bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, delivery receipts, survey instructions, and other relevant claim documents.

· Evaluate salvage opportunities, mitigation measures, repair or replacement costs, and the potential recoverable value of damaged goods.

· Review applicable marine insurance policy terms, conditions, exclusions, and deductibles relevant to the assessment of claims.

· Prepare detailed marine survey reports, preliminary findings, and final loss adjustment reports within agreed turnaround times.

· Communicate with insurers, brokers, policyholders, shipping lines, freight forwarders, carriers, warehouse operators, and other stakeholders throughout the claim assessment process.

· Identify potential recovery or subrogation opportunities and preserve relevant evidence and documentation.

· Maintain complete claim files and ensure accurate, timely, and professional reporting in accordance with company procedures and insurer requirements.

· Manage multiple assignments and travel to inspection locations across the UAE as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical discipline.

· Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in marine surveying, marine cargo claims, marine loss adjusting, or cargo damage inspection.

· Sound understanding of marine cargo insurance, cargo handling, transportation risks, and common causes of cargo damage.

· Practical experience conducting cargo inspections and preparing professional marine survey or loss adjustment reports.

· Knowledge of shipping documentation, cargo packaging, containerized transportation, storage conditions, and loss mitigation procedures.

· Ability to assess physical damage, review supporting documents, evaluate loss amounts, and identify potential recovery opportunities.

· Strong investigative, analytical, report-writing, and communication skills.

· Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; Arabic language skills will be an advantage.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital inspection/reporting tools.

· Valid UAE driving licence and willingness to attend inspections across the UAE.

· Ability to work independently, manage urgent assignments, and meet reporting deadlines.

· UAE marine insurance or surveying experience is highly preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

· Professional, objective, and detail-oriented, with a strong understanding of survey ethics and evidence-based reporting.

· Confident in communicating technical findings to insurers and other stakeholders.
