Our Client, a Large Telecoms provider based in Dublin is seeking an experienced IP Netwrk Engineer to join their team. This is a 12 month daily rate contracting position with the potential to become a rolling contract. Reporting to the Core Network Engineering Manager, this role focuses on IP technologies within a dynamic Service Provider environment. The primary responsibilities include network build projects and core network migrations, with occasional involvement in operational support. The successful candidate will contribute to core IP network architecture changes and ensure robust, scalable network solutions are delivered to support business growth and innovation.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Network Engineer in a Service Provider or large Telco environment
  • Relevant third-level qualification in telecommunications or related field
  • Industry certifications such as JNCIA/JNCIS or equivalent Juniper hands-on experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Juniper MX series platforms
  • Familiarity with Cisco certifications (CCNA/CCNP R&S or SP) – advantageous
  • Hands-on experience with CLI for multi-vendor equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Nokia)
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies: HSRP, VRRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPLS, L2/L3 VPNs, QoS, IPv6, Segment Routing, RPKI, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) – highly desirable
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Full clean driving licence required
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and implement MPLS-based network solutions
  • Plan and execute physical interconnect and service migration activities
  • Deliver IP transit services and manage related migrations
  • Collaborate with architecture teams to shape future network evolution
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends in networking and telecoms
  • Develop and test first-of-type network services in a lab environment
  • Create templates and scripts to enable scalable deployment by Engineering teams
  • Perform hardware/software upgrades and network migrations in line with change control processes
  • Configure and support core infrastructure (P/PE/BNG routers and aggregation switches)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues within strict time constraints
  • Escalate critical faults to vendor TAC teams and replicate issues in lab environments when required
  • Manage service delivery handovers into operations, ensuring thorough documentation and compliance
  • Administer IPv4/IPv6 addressing requirements
