What you’ll do Role purpose: Maintain and support IP/MPLS network operational activities Controlling, managing and supporting business through network operations in collaboration with internal and external customers Maintain operational excellence and efficiency in the network operation processes Provide the necessary support needed by contractors when performing IP related activities Key accountabilities and decision ownership Operational management of IP/ MPLS network to deliver end-to-end network KPI targets to ensure preventive, reactive and corrective maintenance is done as required, regular updates are performed as per vendor recommendations and emphasis on network security is adhered Involved in the evolution and roadmap of the IP network environment, to advise the business on optimal and up to date solutions that will bring synergies with company strategies; Maintain up to date detailed schematics and configurations of the IP network with latest recommended software versions. Emphasis on future modernized networks and strive to automate the network. Ensure all critical services and links are well monitored and notifications are sent whenever agreed threshold is reached to ensure smooth planning of upgrade and a proper realization of value for money Drive the end-to-end network operation processes through documentation, implementation and compliance to processes, procedures and policies to ensure seamless operation of the IP Networks functions; covering Alarm & Trouble Handling, Preventive & Reactive Maintenance, Change Control and business continuity, incident management, escalation, reporting, root cause analysis and recommendations Who you are Core competencies, knowledge and experience Business acumen & awareness Problem Analysis and fast resolution skills Effective communication skills – oral and written IP Networks Design and Troubleshooting Skills Teamwork and stakeholder management skills. Must have technical/professional qualifications: At least 3 years’ experience in Telecommunications Operations University Degree in Telecommunications/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science or equivalent Experience of working with multiple suppliers/vendors/partners i.e. CISCO, Juniper, Huawei etc Knowledge of mobile telecommunications network architectures/ technologies Experience in IP Services operation Knowledge in Network security Certifications in IP related fields particularly CCNA/CCNP, JNCA, CCNSP/CCNSE Must be able and willing to work outside normal working hours when required to do so Willing to travel extensively and sometimes at short notice What's in it for you
