JOB SUMMARY

The Illinois Public Health Institute (IPHI) is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, and strategic communicator to serve as its Communications Manager. This role will serve as a communications partner for the CEO and lead content development and day-to-day communications efforts that showcase the work of IPHI across all its program centers. They will also ensure that all communications that come from the organization reflect the mission and brand with consistent, clear language. The ideal candidate is a strong writer with expertise in writing on behalf of executive leadership and a knack for turning complex public health work into clear, engaging stories and updates. The Communications Manager will help build internal systems to support consistent and effective communications that reflect IPHI as a whole. This role will also write pieces for executive leadership, help organize content for proposals and funder meetings, and draft messaging for key organizational initiatives.
This position is full-time, exempt, and reports to the CEO, collaborating with other communications roles and staff across IPHI. IPHI’s standard work week is 37.5 hours.
The IPHI operates in a dynamic funding environment, and the availability of specific program funding may evolve over time. While the position you are applying for is currently supported by existing funding, future changes in funding sources could impact the associated program. IPHI is committed to supporting our staff and will work to transition employees into other programs within the organization should program funding shift. We value transparency and open communication and will keep employees informed of any significant funding developments that may affect their positions.
