Description
Cognitive Debriefing constitutes a critical component of the Linguistic Validation process for Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs). This process ensures that translated materials are not only linguistically accurate and of high quality, but also culturally appropriate and faithful to the original meaning. The importance of Cognitive Debriefing lies in its role in verifying that the translated instrument is comprehensible and relevant to the target population. During this step, individuals—referred to as “participants”—who are representative of the patient population under study, review the translated questionnaire or instrument. They then provide feedback to an interviewer regarding the clarity, cultural relevance, and overall understandability of the translation.
