An exciting opportunity exists for someone seeking job security and long-term career prospects in Australia’s largest horticulture company. Costa is seeking a motivated and physically fit self-starters to our Irrigation team as the Assistant Irrigation Manager at Colignan farm.
The role is primarily responsible for supporting the Irrigation Manager and the team to ensure onsite water infrastructure is correctly monitored, repaired and maintained to meet the farm’s irrigation requirements. Flexibility to work early starts and weekends if required to meet seasonal and operational requirements is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement, monitor and report on all farm irrigation operations
• Oversee and implement irrigation and fertilisation programs as directed
• Train and manage other irrigation staff as required
• Support the team when there are absences
• Manage the repairs and maintenance of irrigation equipment
• Monitor and conduct maintenance program on soil moisture probes
• Co-ordinate repairs and maintenance on farm infrastructure and equipment
• Ensure calibration of relevant equipment
• Maintain the farm, equipment and facilities in a clean and tidy state.
  To be successful in this role you will ideally be familiar with permanent crop irrigation systems, ideally having worked in a similar role in citrus or stone/pome fruit or table grapes. You may be in corporate agribusiness or family operation in a 2IC role and want to step up and come across to join a corporate agribusiness.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

• Experience working in a similar role is preferred
• Ability to coach and lead teams
• Working knowledge of IT systems and soil probes
• Good problem solving skills to identify and resolve irrigation issues
• Literacy and numeracy skills to maintain accurate irrigation records
• Basic computer skills to assess electronic soil moisture probe data
