Job DetailsJob Location: Hilton Head Commercial - Hilton Head, SC 29928Salary Range: $24.00 - $27.00 HourlyJob Summary The Irrigation Technician II is responsible for maintaining and optimizing both traditional multi-wire and advanced 2-wire decoder irrigation systems across diverse landscapes. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing irrigation systems to ensure peak performance and water efficiency across residential, commercial, or golf course properties. Core Values Culture of Safety – Safety is always job #1 A Growing Tradition Plants, Personally, Financially and Professionally Employee Owned – Personal Pride in Success with an Owners Mentality Exceptional Customer Experience – Delighting our Clients with our Products and Services Good Neighbors – Community Pride – Sharing our Success Respectability – Treating Others as we want to be treated Supervisory Responsibilities None Duties/Responsibilities Conventional System Service Troubleshoot and repair solenoids, valves, controllers, and wiring Identify shorts, broken wires, and faulty connections Adjust zone timing and optimize water schedules Replace damaged sprinkler heads and lateral lines 2-Wire System Service Diagnose decoder communication failures and signal issues Use multimeters and decoder testers to isolate faults Replace or reprogram decoders, surge protectors, and grounding modules Update controller firmware and reconfigure zone addresses Preventative Maintenance Perform seasonal system checks (spring activation, winterization) Inspect for corrosion, water intrusion, and rodent damage Document service logs and update system maps QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities 3+ years of irrigation service experience Proficiency in both conventional and 2-wire systems (Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, etc.) Strong electrical troubleshooting skills Familiarity with wire locators, multimeters, and decoder testers Valid driver’s license and clean driving record Backflow certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) Education and Experience High school graduate or equivalent desired Previous outside construction, landscape, or similar field experience Excellent interpersonal and communication skills a must 6 months commercial landscape experience preferred but not required Physical Requirements Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and work in various positions for extended periods. Full range of mobility in upper and lower body. Ability to lift, push, and pull materials and equipment throughout the workday. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
