(GTI), we’re leaders in agricultural innovation with over 40 years of expertise in seedling production and field transplanting. Position Summary: The Irrigator is primarily responsible for regularly watering and fertilizing all plants that are being grown in their assigned area with direct assistance from the assistant grower. The Irrigator also assists in the scouting of insects and disease while watering plants and is responsible for reporting any findings directly to the supervisor. This position irrigates and fertilizes a wide variety of crops from vegetable trays to floral crops. Key Responsibilities: Irrigating and fertilizing crops accurately and as indicated by the Head Grower. Scouting for insects and disease or any other issues that may affect plant quality at the time of irrigation. Rotating Trays when not irrigating. Cleaning area of weeds and debris. Assist growers in maintaining correct temperature and light levels. Working on greenhouse temperatures following immediate supervisor recommendations. Use proper equipment when required and in an efficient way Work responsibly and safely at all times. Report to work on time. Have all materials ready to start harvest: bags, boxes, labels, and paper. Use tool ranging from sickles, sheers, and scissors. Maintain all crop area(s) of weeds and debris. Manage greenhouse temperatures following immediate recommendations from Head Grower or Assistant Grower. Use proper equipment when required and in an efficient way. Performs all duties in accordance with environmental, food safety, safety rules and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications: High school Diploma or GED preferred 3+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Bilingual in English as Spanish required Must be able to pass respirator use requirements Be willing to take a blood test when needed Ability to read a limited number of words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write and speak simple sentences as a means for basic communication in English/Spanish. Be able to lift to 10 lbs. (lift appropriately). Be able to bend and walk for long periods of times. Working schedule variable. Physical Requirements While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
