IS&T Business Partner and Domain Management – Health Safety Environment and Security

  • Contribute to finalising and executing a refreshed digital strategy aligned with evolving business priorities.
  • Provide strategic leadership, roadmap development and architectural guidance across a complex stakeholder landscape.
  • Navigate change by simplifying processes and enhancing frontline engagement with digital systems.
  • Permanent, full-time role based in Perth or Brisbane, Australia.

We are a newly formed team built on the principle of collaborative diversity - each member brings unique strengths, perspectives and experiences.
Be the bridge between strategy and impact in HSES Technology.
Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring a passion for HSES innovation, this is your opportunity to make a tangible difference!
Are you ready to shape the future of digital transformation in health, safety, environment, and security (HSES)? We’re seeking a strategic and influential leader to join our team as a key partner in delivering high-impact technology outcomes. This role sits at the heart of a dynamic, virtual two-in-a-box model—working closely with a counterpart from the HSES function to align business priorities with delivery teams and drive meaningful change.
As a trusted facilitator and advisor, you’ll navigate a complex stakeholder landscape, manage competing priorities, and help steer a refreshed digital strategy. While this is an individual contributor role, you’ll provide indirect leadership to a team of 10–15 people, guiding initiatives that enhance safety and operational excellence across Rio Tinto.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the business relationship between business leaders and IS&T, ensuring alignment of technology initiatives, product/services with business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of business priorities, market trends, and competitive challenges.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, promoting trust and collaboration.
  • Advocate for business needs within IT, ensuring digital initiatives support operational efficiency and aligns with strategic priorities.
  • Accountable for domain’s digital roadmap and alignment with business objectives.
  • Accountable for domain’s performance (cost and quality).
  • Partner with Product / Platform / Project Managers to translate business needs into technology solutions and ensure appropriate prioritisation.
  • Assist in defining business cases for IT investments, evaluating potential ROI and strategic impact.
  • Drive technology adoption and business value realisation, ensuring IT solutions deliver measurable outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • Stakeholder Management – demonstrable experience managing complex, global, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Diversity of thought - diverse backgrounds to enrich team learning and perspective.
  • HSE Literacy - strong understanding of HSE processes and language is preferred. Functional knowledge is essential to effectively partner with HSE leaders.
  • Transferable Business Partnering Skills.
  • You have the ability to translate business needs into technology priorities.
  • Communicate strategy in business terms.
  • Engage and influence across levels.
  • Strategic Thinking & Adaptability – skills and competencies to construct and shape strategy, not just execute it.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving priorities.
