Description Job Summary: In this part-time role, the ISAC Navigator is responsible for providing direct support to individuals and families. Direct services include conducting intakes, offering crisis guidance, connecting families with community resources, and providing advocacy and referrals to appropriate external services. As the ISAC Navigator, the position specifically focuses on supporting immigrant and refugee clients, helping them navigate systems and access services independently. The Navigator hosts regular in-person office hours, during which clients receive assistance with tasks such as reviewing and responding to mail, making phone calls, managing voicemails, completing applications, and securing referrals. Services are provided in the client’s preferred language, using interpretation to ensure accessibility and cultural competence. Essential Functions: Conduct intake and needs assessments with individuals and families Provide advocacy and referral for services within and outside of SHIM Coordinate services and referrals with partner agencies, county human service providers, schools, healthcare providers, and government entities Work collaboratively with Basic Needs Department to provide basic needs and emergency assistance (food, clothing, utility assistance) to individuals/families in need Document all contacts and services and maintain appropriate case notes in client database systems within a specified timeframe Utilize translation and interpretation services as needed Participate in supervision sessions with the Service Coordination Director, staff meetings and professional development training, and conferences Conduct public/community meetings with providers and clients to explain services and enroll in programing or drop off needed items (gift cards, food pantry, pamphlets etc.) Performs other responsibilities as requested by the Service Coordination Director Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Sensitivity to working with a multi-cultural community Knowledge of social service systems in Allegheny County Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public and private agencies, colleagues, and participants Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills Must possess initiative, productivity, creativity, and problem-solving skills Ability and willingness to work evening and occasional weekend hours Ability to work as a team member with energy, flexibility, and the ability to multi-task Knowledge of Microsoft Office, basic computer software and the internet Ability to use interpretation services and communicate with nonnative English speakers Requirements Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related full-time experience (8 years if part-time experience).? An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (the preferred degrees are social work, psychology, education, human development, criminal justice). Supervisory Responsibility: None Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities. Reliable independent transportation Must be present in the office or designated community center on assigned days Requirements: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fingerprint Clearance or Pennsylvania ACT153 Waiver?
