JOB SUMMARY

As the IT Advanced Quality Analyst/Tester, you will provide professional knowledge and skills in information systems software testing, quality assurance and quality control of application software and systems. This includes the quality of the coding itself and not just the outcome of the application execution. This position promotes appropriate testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects in the software systems.
Level 4 Quality Assurance Analyst/Testers have advanced expertise. Duties performed by this position are complex, and of a smaller scope than those led by senior Quality Assurance Analysis/Testing staff (ITS5). The QA staff at this level require some direction, coaching, and mentoring when leading the quality assurance/analysis for projects.

This position requires an employee to be onsite in St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis.
  • Only candidates residing in Minnesota and its bordering counties are eligible for telework.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in performing IT quality analysis functions.

Experience must include:

  • Participation in formal review of business/functional requirements and application design
  • Creation of business relevant artifacts: test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and test closure documents.
  • Leading the execution of manual, functional, regression, smoke, and system testing tasks
  • Coordinating test schedules and communicating progress of all test activities against the test plan/release schedule
  • Analyzing and reporting of defects, test results and overall test status
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with agile software development methodology
  • Experience leading the manual and automated Quality Assurance effort on projects
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java and .net
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and experience testing for accessibility
  • Proven ability to collaborate, work effectively as part of a team, and establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of stakeholders, business, and technology staff.
  • Ability to work independently and keep yourself on task
