BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
This is a strategic leadership role responsible for managing a team of business analysts and the work of developers and other IT professionals. This role involves overseeing daily operations, setting priorities, and developing standards. The manager will assess technology needs, evaluate project feasibility, and manage the implementation of system changes. The manager will develop and interpret organizational policies and procedures while staying updated with technological advances and managing change risks related to IT. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure cooperation and resolve issues. The manager will also participate in strategic planning teams, contributing to the agency’s technological integration plans. They will review and approve all systems changes prior to implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
GENERAL DUTIES:
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Strategic Leadership and Team Management
- Assigning and reviewing the work of systems analysts, developers, and other computer-related workers.
- Directing daily operations of the department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines.
- Participating in tactical and strategic planning teams at the agency level.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Policy Development
- Meeting with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
- Developing and interpreting organizational goals, policies, and procedures.
- Analyzing and documenting high-level information requirements of the organization, planning and conducting risk assessment activities to define information technology risks faced by the organization, and developing, maintaining, and publicizing a plan for managing information technology positions and personnel.
Project Management and Implementation
- Consulting with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess technology needs and system requirements.
- Evaluating data processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements.
- Reviewing and approving all systems charts and programs prior to implementation.
IT Resource Development and Security
- Developing information technology resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery.
- Evaluating the organization technology use and needs and recommending improvements, such as hardware and software upgrades.
- Managing backup, security, and user help systems.
