We’re hiring an IT Asset Technician (Technician) who is ready to jump into a motivated warehouse and electronics recycling environment and if you’re motivated, dependable, and want a career that grows with you — this is your shot.
The Technician will be responsible for learning of the IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) industry as well as an understanding of the Phoenix Solutions business model and will work with the Tech Dept to process, evaluate, and prioritize inventory in both refurbishment and shipping. Technician is also responsible for facilitating of Recycling Pickups and Drop-Offs from both business and residential customers, and the receiving and processing of IT assets.
Purpose of Position: To process, evaluate and prepare inventory as outlined above, which includes testing and verifying technology in compliance with NAID standards. This position includes data sanitization (hard drive wiping) and destruction as well maintaining a secure facility. Though the position initially covers multiple facets of our operation as well as roles, as Phoenix Solutions grows, this position will likely niche down into one predominant role.
Salary: This position will have a hourly wage, working 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Starting hourly pay is $15 per hour for those with minimal technical or managerial background. We can pay substantially more for those with IT or Management experience, up to $24 per hour. There is future potential for leadership roles for those displaying requisite skills and abilities. Retirement and health insurance benefits have yet to be extended to our team. We give a tiered quarterly bonus that’s based on net profit to all non-commissioned full-time employees.

SKILLS AND STRENGTHS NEEDED:

Technician will need the following skills and strengths to excel in this position: A high “fact finder” will be needed; someone who likes details, precision and documentation. Extremely high “follow through” is required; an individual who seeks to create a plan and systematize, is able to distinguish patterns, coordinate needs, demonstrate a capacity to organize information and materials, and who brings both focus and closure to projects. A willingness to “quick start” will complement this role; a team member with the ability to stabilize, create undeviating standards, and conform to accredited concepts. A proficient “implementor” is essential; an employee who establishes themselves as a pillar of the business, renovating structures, removing obstacles and fixing moving parts.

What to expect: Technician can anticipate working with an enjoyable sense of urgency in a team environment, where a lot of communication and collaboration go down. During the initial training, considerable time will be spent in our warehouse learning our processes and about asset value.

EFFECTIVELY TRAINED WHEN TECHNICIAN KNOWS HOW TO…

  • Package and ship equipment
  • Communicate when equipment is needed or supplies are running short
  • “Process” wholesale equipment
  • Bring definition/specs to equipment
  • Understand the importance of fast work and quick sales
  • Able to safely drive a box truck to a corporate setting and receive inventory
  • Clean everything, like a champ
  • Accurately sort scrap inventory
  • Enter asset data/specs into our Inventory Management Software (ERP).

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Knows how to get stuff done.
  • Can type effectively (with all their fingers) and can interface with online web browsers easily.
  • Doesn’t allow “bright and shiny” to distract them.
  • Sets a goal then takes action to conquer it!
  • Willing to lift boxes (70 lbs), clean floors, and hold doors if that’s what it takes to get something done.
  • Able to push/pull 1000 lbs using a pallet jack and reach with arms and hands.
  • Forklift experience desirable.
  • Must use and/or wear safety equipment at all times.
  • Ability to work independently, to see where a need is and meet it.
  • Must be able to smell chemicals or materials on fire.
  • Able to see, hear, talk: hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information, vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus, speaking abilities to frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly and quickly.
  • Able to use floor and mobile scales.
  • Able to be standing for work duties for the duration of the day.
  • Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in the English language.
