EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, FTP, SMTP, TLS, IMAP, HTTP, SSL, NTP, and VPN.
  • Practical experience with configuring and maintaining firewalls, such as Palo Alto and Azure Firewall.
  • Strong skills in routing, switching, subnetting, NAT, VLANs, and load balancing.
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools for performance optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Database Management Systems.
  • Practical experience in developing and maintaining SQL scripts, ETL processes, and data pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience working with relational databases, along with familiarity with non-relational databases.
  • Expertise in performing root cause analysis on data processes and ETL pipelines to address business questions, resolve issues, and drive improvements.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure data storage and processing services.
  • Familiarity with Azure networking services, architecture, and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with Windows configuration, desktop networking, and SharePoint (not required but considered an asset).

Responsibilities:

HERE’S THE ROLE

GMS is excited to offer a 12-month term opportunity to join our Information Technology team. The IT Cloud Administrator will play a key role in supporting and maintaining legacy IT systems while contributing to the development of cutting-edge cloud technologies and modern data services on Microsoft Azure. As an IT Cloud Administrator, you will be pivotal in supporting GMS’s hybrid network infrastructure and addressing data-related issues and business-as-usual (BAU) reports. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Application Developers, Network and System Administrators, and other key stakeholders, driving impactful solutions across the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and support GMS’s on-premises network and firewall infrastructure.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and administer local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment.
  • Implement network traffic and security monitoring software and optimize server performance.
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem-solving support for network users.
  • Assist in maintaining and supporting GMS’s cloud network solutions and services.
  • Contribute to safeguarding cloud-based applications from data breaches and cybersecurity threats.
  • Resolve data-related issues and produce ad-hoc reports to meet business requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating data pipelines to accommodate business growth and evolving operational needs.
  • Support the development and optimization of SQL scripts, including stored procedures and triggers, within GMS’s databases.
  • Assist in creating data flows, pipelines, and SQL scripts within GMS’s cloud environment.
  • Assist in maintaining and supporting the Data Warehouse and SSRS reports.
  • Document data standards, rules, and quality checks to improve ETL processes.
  • Perform Active Directory tasks such as password reset, and account unlock.
  • Manage hardware inventory for end-user devices and maintain configurations for internal staff.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to end-user systems and cloud services.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance.
