IT CONTRACTOR

We are seeking a reliable and proactive IT contractor to support our company’s IT operations on an as-needed basis. This role is crucial for maintaining our technology infrastructure, assisting our Toronto-based team, and ensuring smooth management of IT assets. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, technically adept, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Location: On-site in our Toronto office
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (Hourly)
Hours: Flexible, as needed (approx. 5 hours per month; hours may vary week to week)
Compensation: Hourly rate (contractor to invoice for hours worked)

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Demonstrated experience in IT support, asset management, or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with IT hardware and software, including laptops (Mac/Windows), mobile devices, and office equipment.
  • Experience using asset tracking or inventory systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and tasks independently.
Responsibilities
  • Device Management & Asset Tracking: Maintain an accurate physical inventory of IT equipment (laptops, TVs, mobile devices), including tracking, labeling, and decommissioning.
  • Procurement & Deployment: Order and configure new hardware/software per company guidelines; ensure asset tagging prior to distribution.
  • End-of-Life Device Management: Manage secure disposal or resale of decommissioned devices, including data wiping and updating inventory.
  • Device Support: Provide on-site assistance for employee hardware/software issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Network & Connectivity Support: Troubleshoot basic internet, network, and printer issues; escalate complex problems to senior IT staff or third-party vendors.
  • Inventory Oversight: Conduct regular audits to confirm all assets are accounted for and functional.
  • Inquiry Escalation: Redirect general IT-related inquiries to the People & Culture team in line with internal protocol.
