Join our client, the Bank of China’s IT team as an Systems Administration Engineer, where you’ll take hands-on ownership of the systems that keep our business running.

This is a broad infrastructure role covering Windows and Red Hat Linux servers, VMware virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, and database platforms. You’ll help maintain a secure, stable and resilient environment while contributing to infrastructure upgrades, operational improvements and production incident response.

This is a full-time, on-site role, with after-hours support required from time to time. You will be remunerated for this in overtime (OT) pay or time in lieu.

• Administer and support Windows Server 2016 and above and Red Hat Linux in a production environment.
• Manage enterprise servers, storage, hardware and VMware infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, performance, capacity, migration and troubleshooting.
• Lead or support server builds, upgrades, migrations, patching, firmware updates and decommissioning in line with change procedures.
• Perform daily monitoring, health checks, alert reviews, backup verification, scheduled job checks and operational housekeeping.
• Support backup, recovery, restoration and disaster recovery activities, including restore testing and participation in DR exercises.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure incidents across hardware, operating systems, VMware, storage and databases, including root-cause investigation and remediation.
• Support planned maintenance, production incident response and infrastructure improvement initiatives, including after-hours support when required.
• Maintain accurate system records, technical documentation, operational procedures and recovery guides.
• Work closely with application, network, information security, vendor and wider technology teams to resolve issues and deliver operational changes.

What you’ll bring

• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• At least 3–5 years’ experience in systems administration or infrastructure support.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server 2016 and above, Red Hat Linux and VMware virtual infrastructure
• Experience with assistant backup recovery: Perform daily system monitoring, health checks, alert review, backup verification, scheduled job checks, and operational housekeeping to maintain infrastructure availability and integrity
• Working professional proficiency in both Mandarin and English, including written and spoken communication. Native-level proficiency is preferred, as Mandarin may be used internally and with clients or stakeholders.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency
• Knowledge of SQL Server and/or Oracle database administration is preferred but not essential.
