IT FIREWALL ADMINISTRATOR:

On behalf of our healthcare client, Procom is searching for an IT Firewall Administrator for a 1-year role. This position is a hybrid position with days onsite at our client’s Vancouver, British Columbia office.

IT FIREWALL ADMINISTRATOR - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Project Services department is tasked with delivering diverse IT infrastructure and security projects for the Health Authorities of British Columbia. These projects ensure the security, reliability, and compliance of both on-premises and cloud environments with organizational standards.

IT FIREWALL ADMINISTRATOR - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of networking and firewalling principles.
  • Hands-on operational knowledge of Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Cisco firewalls.
  • Experience configuring and supporting VPNs and WAFs.
  • Working knowledge of Azure and AWS firewall/security controls.
  • Experience with VMware NSX Distributed Firewall.
  • Familiarity with certificate management (PKI).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

IT FIREWALL ADMINISTRATOR – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Experience with F5 LTM or other load balancers.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, NSE, or PCNSE.
  • Experience in on-prem to cloud migrations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and common productivity tools.
  • Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
  • Implement and modify firewall, proxy, VPN, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and IDS/IPS rules according to project requirements.
  • Work with customers, internal teams, and vendors to troubleshoot firewall, VPN, proxy, WAF, and IDS/IPS issues.
  • Configure and support cloud-native firewall and security controls, including Azure NSGs and AWS security groups.
  • Assist with secure connectivity between on-premises data centres and cloud environments.
  • Update and maintain project documentation to ensure compliance with governance requirements.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and collaborate with security and network operations teams.
