POSITION SUMMARY
The Museum is open to the public on weekends and services for visitors and members are in full operation during weekends hours, including Admissions and the Museum Shop. We are looking for an on-site part-time IT helpdesk technician to support these services during weekend hours, though some weekdays hours may also be scheduled.
The main focus will be to act as an intermediary for the weekend staff, and troubleshoot any IT issues the Museum Shop or Admissions may encounter, e.g., credit card reader issues, iPad connectivity to the network, receipt printer issues, and the like. Other responsibilities include updating and remediating tickets, inventory, organizing the IT office or storage, setting up equipment and provide Held Desk support for employees who are working onsite.
Requirements:
The education and/or experience requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
This is an entry-level position, but knowledge on how a computer works, how to find credible information, knowing when to ask questions, what questions to ask, and when to escalate are necessary.
As this position deals with handling issues from all levels of staff, good customer service skills and patience are necessary.
The person filling this position may sometimes be the sole help desk person on-site. As such, they should possess sound judgement and be able to work alone.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the position and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
Physical requirements are comparable to most audio engineer roles. Ability to interact in-person with colleagues, vendors, and visitors. Use common office tools and machines (computer, phone).
Ability to traverse throughout the office, building(s) and gardens both in and out-of-doors and visit different levels of the building. Ability to transport and operate computer equipment of up to at least 50 pounds.
