We are looking for a n IT infrastructure architect that will help us define and execute our multi and hybrid cloud strateg y . As a member of the team, you incorporate current and future global infrastructure demand from our businesses and translate them via vision, strateg y and architectural capability maps in to the required product s and services.
You are a confident speaker who can also explain, defend and sell the work of the team to stakeholders.

The team
ING’s Global Infrastructure delivers the services w hich are used to run all applications supporting our customers worldwide. This includes private & public cloud with all the infrastructure components that form these cloud , such as VM’s, bare metal servers, container hosting, databases, network , various integration services and the operating model.
The infrastructure architecture team is responsible for the design and roadmap of these services, ensuring that all the various products and services are delivered in a coherent manner and are fit for purpose.
As a team we internationally coordinate our ambitions with the C-level and we design, structure, and help our engineers to achieve these ambitions . The team consists of a group of architects that use their divers e technological backgrounds and corporate experience s to follow market developments and guide technology changes in a changing regulatory and competitive landscape for the mid to long term.
Roles and responsibilities
The team relies on you to have the roles and responsibilities listed below. We are looking for new colleagues that are willing to contribute their skills to the team and are willing to grow the remainder of the listed skills .
Translate corporate strategy into infrastructure strategy and standards with the participation of colleagues and global stakeholders,
Drive the formalization of these strategies and standards that follow the Infrastructure as Code framework,
Converging many opinions into a broadly accepted solution,
Effectively communicate the direction with well-maintained architectural artifacts such as roadmaps , capability maps and standards,
Keeping a close relation with the different area leads, product owners, and engineers, influencing the development priorities and direction,
Balance short-, mid- and long-term priorities that require activities ranging from research ing, ideating, prototyping to the support of creating Solution Architectures ,
Please note for this role we are looking for individual contributor s that can take on the responsibility of (co-)creating the structured artifacts.

Working in a multination al company requires interna tional travel whereby appreciation for multiple viewpoints , customs and diversity is a must . Professional communications skills in English are required.
Working as enterprise architects requires both formal and informal global coordination and communication skills amongst large groups of stakeholders , maintain alignment with vendors/suppliers , the ability to present to C level management and keep documentation up to date.
Working within the infrastructure domain for a bank requires broad understanding and affinity with general IT infrastructure such as compute , storage , connectivity , analytics, etc.
Working as internal platform/digital products provider requires an understanding of multi-tenancy models a nd the ability to harmonize requirements from multiple internal consumers. ( In contrast to Solution Architectures for a single consumer .)
Working in a regulated industry requires appreciation and tolerance for regulations . It is important to understand that regulations influence the architecture of our landscape.
Working as a professional requires besides the standard skills like teamwork , self-steering , administrative , negotiation, etc. also a high level of self-awareness o f ( solution ) biases. Understanding our own biases and the ir limits are key to be successful in negotiating broadly supported solution s .
