WHO WE ARE SUPPORTING

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO’s member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO’s communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO’s military commanders to plan and execute operations.
  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO’s mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
  • Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO’s information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO’s communication and information technology capabilities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact positively with multiple departments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information in a user-friendly manner

  • Minimum of 2 years working on an IT Service Desk
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Intermediate Windows OS system administrator experience.
  • Experience deploying equipment in compliance with Emission Security regulations.
  • Basic Printer operation and repair skills.
  • Basic experience working with audio visual systems such as projectors, VTC controllers, smartboards, TV systems
  • Technical experience maintaining Polycom VTC hardware and software
  • Intermediate experience with asset accounting
  • Intermediate experience of laying CAT5 and Fibre cabling
  • Intermediate experience using PatchManager infrastructure management software
  • Intermediate experience managing power distribution within server racks
  • Intermediate experience managing a NEC Univerge SV9100 PABX
  • Intermediate experience using Oracle E-Business Suite for purchase requests
Responsibilities

ROLE BACKGROUND

NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) CIS Support Element (CSE), located in YEOVILTON (UK) is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance and support of assigned communications and information systems to their operational partner, Joint Electromagnetic Warfare Core Staff (JEWCS)

ROLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliverables:
D01. Logistics and LEG008 Support

Outcomes:

  • Accurate and compliant asset lifecycle management for the LEG008M90 service, encompassing accounting, receipt, and disposal.
  • CIS equipment up to 30 kilograms is readily available in the required locations when needed.
  • A 100% accurate NCIA CIS Assets Property Accounting database is maintained for all assigned accounts.
  • Compliance with NCIA Directives is ensured through the completion of annual inventory inspections for assigned accounts.
  • All asset discrepancies are identified, fully documented in reports, and addressed in accordance with NCIA asset management directives.
  • Efficient and effective lifecycle management of all CIS Assets within the site, covering requisitioning through to disposal.
  • End users have the correct CIS equipment available to them when required.
  • Continuously improved and enhanced logistic processes across the site.
  • All end user problems for site services are logged in the ticketing system and promptly routed to the appropriate support groups.
  • First-level IT support issues related to telephones, cabling, UPS batteries, HVAC, and power are resolved effectively.
  • First and second-level IT support issues related to the NEC Univerge SV9100 PABX are resolved effectively.

D02. WPS001 Managed Devices Support

Outcomes:

  • Accurate and compliant asset lifecycle management for all assets involved with the WPS001 service.
  • End users receive requested laptops and ancillaries promptly.
  • Workstations, base-stations, and monitors are installed correctly and securely for end-users, adhering to EMSEC regulations.
  • First and second-level IT support issues related to the WPS001 service are resolved effectively.
  • Visiting personnel supporting the WPS001 service are appropriately escorted on site.

D03. WPS007 Printer Support

Outcomes:

  • Accurate and compliant asset lifecycle management for all assets involved with the WPS007 service.
  • Operational printers are re-located as requested.
  • First-level IT support issues related to the WPS007 service are resolved effectively.
  • Visiting personnel supporting the WPS007 service are appropriately escorted on site.

D04. WPS016 Mobility Support

Outcomes:

  • Accurate and compliant asset lifecycle management for all assets involved with the WPS016 service.
  • End users receive necessary security tokens, smartphones, and tablets, with new users receiving adequate initial instruction.
  • Consistent and secure configuration of all Apple IOS devices is maintained through MDM.
  • First-level IT support issues related to the WPS016 service are resolved effectively.
  • Comprehensive support is provided to security investigations involving the WPS016 service when requested.
