OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on leader to serve as our “IT Manager”. The IT Manager will be responsible and accountable for the smooth operations of our computer systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs, and timelines. The IT Manager will oversee the daily operations of the IT Department together with the IT Project Manager/Helpdesk Manager, supervising the support and maintenance of the firm’s computing needs. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing networks and related technologies, as well as detailed knowledge of industry best practices and current technology trends.
The IT Manager will play an integral role in securing and managing the firm’s technological landscape. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at safeguarding the firm’s digital assets, optimizing the IT infrastructure, ensuring business continuity, and assisting the IT helpdesk with ticket handling and escalations. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of professional experience in network administration, can advocate for the efficient, effective, and secure operation of the firm’s IT systems, security protocols, and possesses a strong foundation in core Microsoft and networking technologies. Familiarity with the unique technology needs of a law firm, including legal IT applications and systems, is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of technology experience within a law firm or other professional services firm preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and building successful technical teams.
  • Ability to lead and motivate IT team, provide guidance, and manage performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about security, infrastructure, and technology challenges.
  • Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), Intune, Windows Server (including roles such as DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy), and Windows client operating systems.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, network switching, VLAN configuration, and SonicWall firewall administration, including advanced firewall configurations, VPN management, and intrusion detection/prevention.
  • Exposure to and understanding of legal IT-related applications and systems (e.g., document management systems, e-discovery platforms, time/billing software) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to end-users, firm management, and colleagues in a clear and approachable manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, strong organizational and time management skills, and a results-driven approach.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the firm’s IT network and overall infrastructure to enhance security posture, promote stable and reliable system operations, improve end-user experience, and support the firm’s strategic growth goals.
  • Manage IT staff through recruiting, coaching, performance management, and communicating job expectations, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive technology policies, procedures, governance models and best practices.
  • Ensure redundancies across all infrastructure components—data, networks, system access, storage architecture, and backup systems—to maintain business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Identify problematic areas, implement timely corrective action plans, and leverage best practices to continuously improve the end-user technology experience.
  • Work with IT Project Manager/IT Helpdesk Manager to maintain and preserve technology assets, manage inventory levels, ensure systems are updated, patched, and operating reliably.
  • Stay current with technological developments, market trends, and emerging innovations. Evaluate and integrate new technologies to maintain a modern, secure, and scalable infrastructure aligned with industry standards.
  • Define and deliver strategies for network transformation, including vision, roadmap, and governance, ensuring the firm’s IT environment is collaborative and scalable.
  • Manage key strategic vendor partnerships and oversee vendor performance, upgrades, and updates.
  • Implementing and maintaining security protocols to protect company data and systems from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
  • Act as an escalation resource for the IT Helpdesk, providing advanced technical support and guidance.
  • Communicate effectively within and across teams, providing regular status reports to firm management on issues, projects, and initiatives.
  • Assist in annual technology budget planning and contribute to cost optimization strategies.
  • Ensure appropriate coverage for emergencies and holidays and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment.
