QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • Degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years in a senior IT role, ideally within a retail or infrastructure-focused environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a management or team leadership capacity.
  • Strong experience in delivering IT support in busy, multi-site environments.
  • Demonstrable experience with ITIL principles.
  • Solid knowledge of cybersecurity practices and protocols.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Oracle) is essential.
  • Experience in the charity or retail sectors is highly desirable.

SKILLS

  • Strong technical capability across networking, infrastructure, and Azure cloud environments.
  • Logical and pragmatic approach to troubleshooting and incident resolution.
  • Able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to effectively delegate, coach, and mentor team members.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

The IT Manager is responsible for the effective delivery and management of IT services across Newlife’s offices, warehouses, and retail stores. This includes managing the IT support team, leading infrastructure and process improvement projects, and ensuring robust and efficient service delivery that supports the charity’s operations and growth.


The role suits a “player-manager” with hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Integration and middleware
  • Solution architecture
  • Retail or charity-specific IT systems
  • Supply chain or ERP solutions
  • SQL databases
  • Networking technologies (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switches, routers)
  • Windows, Linux, and mobile operating system
