IT MANAGER & SECURITY OFFICER

A leading SME defence firm is seeking a dedicated IT Manager & Security Officer to lead and enhance our IT infrastructure, ensuring robust security and compliance with handling official sensitive information. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity, reliability, and efficiency of our systems, while safeguarding sensitive data.
You will be responsible for a wide range of IT tasks, including network administration, hardware and software maintenance, cybersecurity, and project management, all aligned with stringent defence industry standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in IT management and cybersecurity, preferably within the defence sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK government security standards for official sensitive information.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, and cybersecurity.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • IT Infrastructure Management:
  • Develop, manage, and maintain IT systems, servers, and network infrastructure aligned with defence industry standards.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software.
  • Monitor system performance and implement necessary optimizations.
  • Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.
  • Cybersecurity & Data Protection:
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect systems and official sensitive data.
  • Regularly update security software and patches.
  • Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with UK government security protocols and guidelines.
  • Respond to security incidents and breaches.
  • Compliance & Security Protocols:
  • Ensure compliance with UK government security standards for official sensitive information.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of relevant defence industry standards and regulations.
  • Technical Support & Leadership:
  • Provide timely and effective technical support to employees.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Assist with user training and onboarding.
  • Provide technical leadership, support, and training to staff.
  • Project Management & Vendor Relations:
  • Plan and execute IT projects, such as network upgrades or software implementations.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets.
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and resolve vendor issues.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
