As Diraq’s IT & Network Engineer, you will build and operate the secure IT and network foundations that the company runs on. This hands‑on, mid‑level role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining IT infrastructure, network environments, and security controls that protect sensitive research and enable a fast‑moving technical team to operate efficiently without cutting corners. You will own the setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of systems and network security appliances, provide helpdesk and technical support to staff, and work closely with technical teams as a core contributor to how a growing quantum company operates. Strong IT fundamentals, practical networking experience, and an interest in information and cyber security are essential to ensuring stable, secure, and scalable IT operations.   Required Skills & Experience * 5+ years’ experience as a Network Engineer, IT Engineer, or similar mid-level role * Strong hands-on networking experience, including setup, management, and troubleshooting of network environments * Hands-on experience configuring and managing network security appliances such as firewalls and VPNs * Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, NAT, and firewall concepts * Strong Windows systems administration experience * Proven experience in Linux and Windows server management and security. * Experience deploying, managing, and supporting virtualization platforms and hypervisors * Proven ability to troubleshoot complex IT, network, and security issues * Experience delivering helpdesk and end-user support in a business environment * Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills   Desirable Skills & Experience * Information security or cyber security knowledge or hands-on experience * Experience working in hybrid or cloud environments * Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools   Personal Attributes * Hands-on, practical, and proactive approach to problem solving * Strong customer service mindset with attention to detail * Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team * Willingness to learn and adapt in a changing technical environment * Configure, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, switching, routing, and wireless * Set up, manage, and monitor network security appliances such as firewalls, WAPs, VPNs, secure gateways, and IDS/IPS * Monitor system, network, and security performance, availability, and capacity * Deploy, manage, and maintain IT infrastructure including servers, endpoints, and core systems * Administer Windows and Linux environments, including patching, updates, and system hardening * Support and manage virtualized environments and hypervisors (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, KVM or equivalent) * Provide Level 1–3 helpdesk support and technical assistance to staff * Support end-user devices including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals * Perform incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution * Maintain accurate documentation, procedures, and technical diagrams * Apply and support security best practices across IT and network environments * Stunning central Sydney CBD office with great amenities. * Paid time off to volunteer for causes you care about. * Eligibility to participate in our equity incentive plan. * Work alongside world experts in quantum computing and a visionary SLT. * A dynamic, supportive, and fast-paced environment with room to grow. * Exposure to cutting-edge tech and the opportunity to shape how it reaches the world.
