The Opportunity:
The Information Technology Computing & Telecommunication Center at Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU Tri-Cities) is dedicated to supporting students, faculty, and staff with their computing and technology needs. Our focus is on both supporting the effective integration of technology into the academic and administrative life of our campus and on keeping campus user technology current and easy to use.
In the IT Network & Telecommunications – Entry role at WSU Tri-Cities, you will provide computer and network troubleshooting and resolution of all problem requests received via trouble tickets, phone calls, and in-person requests from the campus community. Under general guidance, you will troubleshoot end user VoIP phone issues and provide administration of the campus Private Branch Exchange phone system (PBX). Additionally, under supervision, you will determine necessary maintenance for the campus LAN and WAN, identify network disruptions, and resolve them in a timely manner. You will also provide training on use of hardware and software to customers. In addition, you will manage the move, add, change (MAC) process for the campus. Finally, you will help with the IT Help Desk daily activities by providing technical assistance to student help desk technicians. As needed, you will act as part of the campus emergency response team.

Percentage Breakdown of Job Functions:

  • 60% IT Systems Networking, Implementation, and Administration
  • 20% Process Customer-Initiated Service Requests
  • 15% Installation, Maintenance and Documentation
  • 5% Other Duties as Assigned
