The IT Operations Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for all Embross employees, supporting a wide range of IT operations activities. This role is responsible for managing internal user accounts and access, operating and maintaining internal servers and network infrastructure with a focus on efficiency and security, and optimizing the overall IT architecture.
The specialist will manage and support our internal IT infrastructure to ensure seamless day-to-day operations for our on-premises environment and internal users. Key responsibilities include user onboarding and offboarding, system administration, hardware and software support, and driving operational process improvements.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Provide hardware and software support: Troubleshoot issues with laptops, desktops, and other IT devices.
- Administer and manage Microsoft 365: Handle user accounts, licenses, and services.
- Manage user onboarding and offboarding: Ensure smooth transitions for new and departing employees.
- Maintain Azure Active Directory: Create, modify, and disable user accounts and groups.
- Operate and maintain internal servers and network infrastructure: Manage LAN, VoIP, DNS, firewalls, proxy servers, switches, routers, and VPN solutions.
- Procure and manage IT devices: Oversee asset inventory management and create/deploy/reimage OS or standard configurations on laptops and servers.
- Follow industry best practices for system setup security: Adhere to NIST and ISO 27001 guidelines.
- Assist in development and execution of disaster recovery plans: Ensure these plans are documented, tested, and maintained.
- Create documentation and SOPs for IT processes: Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and documentation for IT processes.
- Create automations to streamline processes: Implement automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
- Patching and updating of all servers, endpoints, and peripherals: Regularly patch and update systems to reduce company risk and improve cybersecurity posture.
Who You are
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in computer science or similar, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of direct work experience in managing systems and network infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016-22, and Linux (various).
- Experience with server monitoring and patching.
- Experience with Network Environment Admin including LAN, VoIP, DNS, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, Switches, routers, WIFI Controllers, VPN, VLAN policies.
- Familiarity with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management using LDAP/AD, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management, SSL.
- Knowledgeable in implementing and maintaining VPN solutions for remote access.
- Entra ID experience - Creating, modifying, and disabling user accounts and groups in Entra ID(Azure AD).
- Motivated to learn and participate in company-provided training regularly.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service, including effective communication, problem-solving, and maintaining a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills in English.

- AWS, CompTia, ITIL, Microsoft etc. certified
- Knowledgeable in automation of infrastructure provisioning, infrastructure-as-code, DevOps, automated deployment and change management and/or continuous integration/delivery.
- Knowledge of service architecture, containerization, and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker, microservices.
- Familiarity with penetration testing.
- Experience with ITIL practices.
- Subject-matter expertise in Travel and Transportation business areas - Airline, airport services or DCS (Departure Control System), RES (Reservation System), BHS, CUTE, CUPPS system services.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning.
You Travel
You will be working mostly from Richmond Hill Office, with a possibility of 0 – 15% of business travel.
