About the program The Working in Science Internship Program is designed for last year's students and recent graduates who want to apply what they’ve learned in a real, global biotechnology environment. You’ll contribute to meaningful projects, gain mentorship, and develop skills that set you up for future success. Department description: You will join the Axial Technology – Indirect Procurement Product Team, a global group responsible for shaping and delivering AstraZeneca’s procurement technology landscape. The team leads the design, development, and integration of systems such as SAP S/4HANA, Coupa, and other supplier‑facing applications, ensuring global processes for Purchasing, Supplier Collaboration, and Accounts Payable run seamlessly. Our team Owns the global template for Procure‑to‑Pay and supplier collaboration technologies. Works with partners across IT, Procurement, Finance, and external system providers. Delivers major transformation initiatives, including integrations, automation, and data standardization. Ensures new solutions are tested, high‑quality, and aligned with business needs. Supports day‑to‑day operations through defect triage, enhancements, and continuous improvement. You will be part of a collaborative environment that values learning, curiosity, and teamwork—where even interns contribute directly to real project deliveries and system improvements. General hiring requirements Currently enrolled in a degree program in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business IT, or a related field. Strong interest in enterprise systems, integrations, and digital process solutions. Basic understanding of software testing, data flows, and system logic. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with data. Ability to produce clear reports, documentation, and status updates. Fluent English (spoken and written)—mandatory for daily communication and documentation. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and willingness to learn. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a global team. Organized, proactive, and capable of handling multiple small tasks. Required skills, candidate background: Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business IT, or a related field. Basic understanding of how enterprise systems or integrations work (interfaces, data flows, APIs). Interest in Procure‑to‑Pay, ERP systems, or digital transformation is a plus. Familiarity with software testing concepts (test cases, defects, validation, retesting). Basic ability to analyze data using Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data cleanup. Exposure to any business applications (e.g., SAP, Coupa, Workday, or similar) is an advantage. Ability to prepare simple reports, dashboards, and documentation. Strong organizational skills for tracking defects, progress, and daily/weekly reporting. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn complex enterprise systems. Fluent English (spoken and written) is mandatory, as the role involves daily communication and documentation in a global environment.
